It is not that long but it has been a decade, 10 years, since I launched Suab Hmong first radio program on the air on radio station 1250AM on May 11, 2000.
First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thanks the following persons, groups, and organizations for their supported and helped Suab Hmong: Thanks my family for their supports and understanding of my visions and goals on pursuing Suab Hmong Radio. Thanks the whole Suab Hmong Radio volunteer staff team, including those that are no longer active with Suab Hmong Radio; for your consideration to be part of Suab Hmong process and dedicated your valuable times to make Suab Hmong Radio a success Hmong radio program. Thanks all individuals, businesses, and organizations that sponsored Suab Hmong Radio programs on the local radio stations. And thanks all Suab Hmong fans around the world for listening and visiting Suab Hmong website every day. Your supported and helped will live with us, Suab Hmong organization, until the end of time.
I also would like to extend my gratitude and special thanks to the following persons for their energetic, time, and open minded to help me carried Suab Hmong Radio until today: Special thanks to Victor M. Vaj, for his outstanding supported and dedicated time to help me with Suab Hmong Radio in all phases. Even though he makes his decision to leave Suab Hmong organization on April 26, 2010 to pursue other path of life, I wish him the best for everything. Special thanks to Dr. Cher Vang, for his wise thought to come up with the name “Suab Hmong”. For this, the name “Suab Hmong” has lived for the last decade and will be lived for many years to come. Special thanks to Vinnie F. Vang, for his creative ideas on brought Hmong artists, dancers, and entertainers to perform on all Suab Hmong’s events. And special thanks to Melisa Vang, Maylee Xiong, Melisa Kia Lor, for their sweet voice on the Suab Hmong Radio Entertainment programs that led to the most popular programs ever and heard throughout the world.
It was the beginning of the year 2000 that I wanted to do something to stand up for the Hmong community. I called friends and cousins to meet and brainstormed and the result was to do a radio program in the Milwaukee area. Prior to start the radio program, I gathered information and listened to Hmong radio programs around the country to see how I could do differently and better and more effective. I came up with the mission statement for the radio program “To broadcast information news and entertainment to the Hmong community”. It took me four months to form the radio team and came up with the radio program format. The initial radio program named “Hmong Entertainment” was launched on the air on May 11, 2000 through a local radio station 1250AM from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
On May 31, 2000, the radio name “Hmong Entertainment” changed to “Suab Hmong”. Dr. Cher Vang came up with the name “Suab Hmong” and suggested to me during a meeting. I didn’t like it at first because it did not serve the initial vision and goal of the radio program but as I broader my thinking, it make more sense because it represents the Hmong community in a global way. So “Suab Hmong” replaced “Hmong Entertainment” on May 31, 2000 and its mission changed to “To broadcast information news, talk show on varies topics and entertainment to the Hmong community”.
On August 10, 2000, Suab Hmong Website (www.suabhmongradio.com) launched on the World Wide Web. All Suab Hmong’s radio program archive on the Suab Hmong Website and were available to anyone to listen to them.
The radio program’s format broadcasted news on the first half hour and music for the second half hour. It became very popular radio program in the Milwaukee area as well as other states and other countries that led other Hmong radio programs to name their radio programs after “Suab Hmong” or “Suab Hmoob”.
On May 5, 2001, Lao Family Community in Milwaukee offered a contract for Suab Hmong to host its Sunday radio program and I accepted the contracted.
I and Suab Hmong’s volunteer team have helped Hmong community in many ways, just to name a few, such as: the Hmong Catholic in Milwaukee, in which, we hosted a two day event to help fundraiser for their church, the SeeYee Community in Milwaukee where we hosted outdoor entertainment to showcase the Hmong community, network with other organizations and musicians, and to help the organization grow, and the Extended Social Security benefit, in which, we hosted a public forum in Madison, Wisconsin, with the Wisconsin state legislature to extend Social Security benefit for Hmong individuals who were not US citizens.
My colleague Victor M. Vaj and I were the first Hmong journalists from the Hmong community to coverage Governor Jim Doyle’s first sign/veto budget bills conference at Madison, Wisconsin after he won the 2002 Wisconsin Governor election.
In the middle of the year 2003, I was asked by representatives from the state of Wisconsin to go to Thailand to welcome Hmong refugees, those that will resettle in the state of Wisconsin, to the state of Wisconsin. Again, Victor M. Vaj and I went to Thailand to visit Hmong refugee in Wat Thamkrabot, Thailand and welcome them to the state of Wisconsin. We also met with Thailand National Security Council to brief on the welcome process.
On June 26, 2007, Suab Hmong switched its domain name from suabhmongradio.com to shrdo.com. This was to shorting down the domain name for better use on email purpose. The domain name suabhmongradio.com serves as a point to the domain name shrdo.com.
The end of the year 2009, Suab Hmong partnered with Hmong Report At 7, a Hmong TV in the central valley, to share news to broadcast them to the Hmong community.

There were many things that I and Suab Hmong’s volunteer team have done for the Hmong community in the past decade that I cannot stressed them all here. We hope some of the things we did for the community will/have create some positive results and will/have enhance Hmong society to the next level of life.
At Suab Hmong, we do not involve and play any politic and we do not downgrade and humiliate any one on any situations. All our news are based on factual evident from events and individuals.
If you have any suggestions or questions on any of our programs, please do not hesitate to let me know personally and I will be happy to work with you.

I am one of the first original SHR's member for the last 10 years. Many people came and go. Some of the friends that I used to know from the beginning are no where to be found. Tubliab, Peter, and Brian are still around but not much. I know many Hmong couple met here at SHR and married after that. SHR came a long way and led Hmong Media and impression to the 21st century with the latest technology and everything else. I congratulated SHR for a well done great jobs for the hmong community.
