Hmong Club 29 defeated Hmong USA soccer team on July 25, 2010

By Richard Wanglue Vang -- Total 13 soccer teams competed in the soccer tournament at Hmong Sheboygan Summer Festival on July 24 and 25, 2010.

The soccer tournament held in a format based on the two top teams won prior year to put on the top list and the rest of the teams went through a lottery drawing to know who they would play against.
Hmong USA soccer team from Sheboygan, Wisconsin won first place prior year and Club29 soccer team from Milwaukee, Wisconsin won second place prior year so they were placed on the top list. Hmong USA soccer team started on field A and Club 29 soccer team started on field B. All soccer teams had two chances in the tournament. If a team won the first game, they went to play the team lost to the other team.
Club 29 soccer team from Milwaukee, Wisconsin defeated Hmong USA soccer team from Sheboygan, Wisconsin by PK shoot out. The first half of the game, Hmong USA scored one goal on Club 29. On the second half, Club 29 came back and scored one goal on Hmong USA. The scored tied for the game to lead to the PK shoot out; five players from each team shoot the ball to see who makes more goals to win the championship.
Four Hmong selected soccer players play for a top private soccer club in the nation “FC Milwaukee” participated and played for Club29 soccer team; Magic Vang (from Green Bay, Wisconsin), Hlu Wanglue Vang, Heng Wanglue Vang, and Chinou Xiong (from Milwaukee, Wisconsin). “This time around we have younger soccer players from the mainstream clubs and elsewhere and they were easy to manage compare to the past with older age players. The communications were easy to go through and it was a team worked and our luck to win the championship” said Joe Xiong, Coach for club 29 soccer team.
Hmong USA missed one PK shoot out to give Club 29 to win the 2010 Hmong Sheboygan Summer Festival soccer tournament. “Most of our forward starter players are injured… the one left was number 5 and Club 29 team did a good job to play against him so he did not have much chance to get the ball in” said Mao Xiong, Assistant Coach for Hmong USA soccer team.
Both teams are looking forward to compete at some of the big Hmong tournaments coming up during the 2010 summer months.
