Suab Hmong Radio TalkShow tonight (June 10, 2010 from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM) will be broadcasted Dr. Xa Xiong’s speech during the 35th Years Hmong Refugee Anniversary (June 5, 2010) on how mental illness affecting the health and death in the Hmong community.

Dr. Xiong said most of the illness his patients, Hmong elderly, had were part of what they been through, many tragic events during the war in Laos. By talking and listening to their stories, he was able to give them the proper drug prescriptions to cure their illness. “If you go to see your non-Hmong doctor, chances that he/she won’t know the best way to cure your illnessbecause he/she may not know the history background of the Hmong and how much Hmong suffered and been through the many tragic events during the war in Laos…” said Dr. Xiong.
Dr. Xa Xiong specializes in Family Practice Medicine. Areas of his practice include preventive health care and health maintenance, routine pediatric and adult care, women’s care, geriatric care, treatment of musculoskeletal problems, and chronic disease management including diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. He is currently working for Prevea Health in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
